Job Summary and Mission

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include the following:

    • Teaching individual and/or group music lessons lasting from 30 to 60 minutes each
    • Commuting by car to students’ homes to conduct lessons as scheduled
    • Planning lessons in relation to individual students’ unique goals and interests
    • Preparing students for performances, examinations, auditions, and competitions
    • Communicating with parents about their child’s lessons and progress
    • Maintaining regular and punctual attendance
    • Following Resound’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cancelling and rescheduling lessons, and those for ensuring the safety of both the student and the teacher
    • Behaving with the integrity, honesty, and respect that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Resound School of Music

Basic Qualifications

    • A high level of musical competence and proficiency on your instrument
    • Applicants are expected to have some form of post-secondary musical education or equivalent
    • Ability to teach different skill levels and a variety of musical styles
    • All teachers must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to lessons
    • No criminal history. Understand that if you are hired, you will be subject to an RCMP criminal background check

What to Expect

    • This position typically requires working afternoons and evenings. The majority of music lessons take place between 3-8pm from Monday to Friday, though some students prefer to have their lessons earlier in the day or on weekends.
    • Once hired, teachers will be required to submit their availability to schedule lessons. We will then work to fill your given availability with as many new students as possible. Understand that in the early stages, it may take some time to build up a large portfolio of students.
    • Teachers are required to travel from home to home to teach their lessons. Using a proprietary software, we will work to create the most efficient schedules possible so that you spend less time on the road between your lessons and more time teaching. The average driving time between lessons is below 12 minutes.
    • With our unique student-teacher matching process, we’ll set you up with students who are best suited to your strengths as a teacher.
    • Teaching music is what you’re good at, so we care of the rest. Our completely paperless management system handles scheduling, billing, payment, and everything else online so you don’t ever have to deal with it.
    • No “micromanaging”. Once a teacher has demonstrated a sufficient level of competence and success in their role, they are given a high level of workplace autonomy.


Hourly wages range from $30-$40 per teaching hour, based on education level, teaching experience, and job performance.
