This month’s featured student is Callum Len from Surrey, BC! Callum has just turned 10 and is in his 2nd year of piano lessons with Resound. Callum is a patient, dedicated, and talented student. He’s always very kind and polite during lessons and consistently tries his very best. He has great practicing habits, and almost always moves onto a new song in his book every week.
Callum has made good progress in the Faber Piano Adventure series and he’s already on his 3rd book! He has recently learned his major and minor 5-finger scales in all keys, developing his understanding of transposition, whole-steps and half-steps as well as major and minor chords.
Callum has developed a strong understanding of reading notes on the staff and rhythmic notation. He’s made good progress through traditional method books while still making time to learn popular repertoire from bands such as Imagine Dragons and The Beatles. Some songs he’s learned include Eye of the Tiger, Super Mario Bros Theme, Hedwig’s Theme and many others!
One of my favourite aspects of Callum is his perseverance. He’s always up for any challenge and continues to give his best effort when practicing difficult passages. I always look forward to hearing his latest musical development at our next lesson!
