
Crystal Yu
Piano Teacher
Crystal Yu began to play the piano when she was 4 years old. She studied piano with Alice Enns and the late Mary Tickner. Some of Crystal’s piano accomplishments include obtaining the British Columbia District/Authority Scholarship in piano in 2020, receiving a scholarship from the Kiwanis Music Festival, as well as frequently receiving awards performing in local music festivals.
Crystal was one of three people in British Columbia to obtain her RCM Licentiate Diploma of Piano Performance in 2019, the highest performance level offered by RCM. She is currently a fourth-year student at UBC studying Psychology and Music Technology. She is also studying piano Pedagogy with Prudence Leung.
Crystal values and enjoys spreading her passion for piano to her students. She believes it is most important for students to appreciate as well as enjoy the music they are playing, so that they have a fun experience when learning the piano.
