Desirée Arthur
Desirée Arthur has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rocky Mountain College, majoring in Voice and a minor in Piano. Her musical career didn’t start in college but in fact when she was 2 years old. She has been performing her whole life from singing in church, playing cello in the orchestra to singing on stage at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, which has taken her all over Canada, parts of the US and all over Europe.
She has been taught by renowned teachers as Donna Faye Carr (Voice), Patrice Barnes (Voice), Colleen Roller (Piano) and Edwin Gnandt (Piano).
Desiree has had the opportunity to sing with various people and artists. She has sang with Raylene Scarrott, Tenore (Male trio), Johnny Summers, sang in the choir for Micheal W. Smith at Carnegie Hall (NYC), just to name a few.
She is still singing and performing today. She runs her own music studio called Arthur Swinton Music Studio. She sang at Centre Street Church for 26 years on several worship teams and she has been blessed to sing with New West Symphony and Chorus for 15 years as a founding member. She is now at Harvest Hills Alliance as their Worship Pastor.
She loves her students and always has a full studio with returning students year after year. She not only teaches a love of music, but she instills confidence and love of self into her students. They love her like a friend, Big sister, and Aunt, but they know when she’s “Teacher” and know when she’s friend. She takes their learning seriously and pushes them when they need it and shows compassion when life throws things at them.
She teaches in a contemporary style moving away from the traditional RCM way while still teaching fundamental theory and music practices. She wants her students to be well rounded musicians when they leave her studio knowing many genres.
Fun fact about Desirée is while finishing college, she picked up the Cello and loves to occasionally play in the orchestra and take a break from singing.
