Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you teach?

We believe that it’s never too late to pursue your passion for singing. That’s why we offer voice lessons to children ages 5 and up, as well as adults of all ages. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned vocalist, our instructors will help you reach your full potential and achieve your musical aspirations.

How often are the voice lessons?

We schedule vocal lessons to recur on the same day and time each week, except for stat holidays and Winter Break. To see a list of all our holidays, click here to view our school calendar.

How do you select your voice teachers?

We are very picky about which teachers we choose to hire at Resound. Our teachers are vetted based on their experience, education, and most importantly, their passion for teaching music. Because of this, we accept less than 5% of candidates who apply, and all teachers are subject to an RCMP criminal record check prior to teaching.

How often are voice students expected to practice?

This answer varies greatly depending on the student and their experience. Unlike other musical instruments, the human voice is a muscle that needs to undergo regular training to strengthen and develop. We recommend exercising your voice a little bit every day, while at the same time avoiding straining or injuring your voice. While it’s important to rest from time to time, you will notice more progress from shorter, regular practice sessions every day, than from longer practice sessions once or twice per week.

How much do voice lessons cost?

We offer several pricing options for voice lessons based on lesson length. All our rates can be found on our pricing page here.

Does Resound offer an in-studio option for lessons?

Because we are a mobile music school, we do not offer an in-studio option for students to have their lessons. All music lessons will take place at a location the student has provided, be it their own home, or in some cases their private office or studio.

Will I need to purchase a piano or any additional equipment?

While it’s not necessary to have your own piano or accompanying instrument to take voice lessons, it can be very helpful and something we encourage if your budget allows. Even having a small electric piano can be useful for practicing vocal warmups and exercises. If you’d like a specific recommendation for your budget, then we would be happy to give some advice. Contact us today for a free consultation.

Do you have music recitals?

Absolutely! We host 2 music recitals each year; one winter and one summer concert. Every student is welcome to participate and it can be a great way to motivate students to work towards a fun and exciting goal.
